Line Patrolling Mobile Application
Effective Date: [Insert Date]
1. Introduction
The Line Patrolling mobile application ("Application" or "Line Patrolling" or "App") is designed for line walker users engaged in pipeline inspection and maintenance activities for MDPE (Medium-Density Polyethylene) and Steel pipeline construction projects. This Privacy Policy describes how the Application collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information, particularly your location data, during the course of your work activities.
By installing and using the Line Patrolling Application, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use this Application.
2. Application Overview and Purpose
2.1 Purpose
The Line Patrolling Application is a work management and monitoring tool used in pipeline construction and maintenance operations. The Application enables: Assignment of predefined inspection routes to line walker users; Route access and navigation for field personnel; Real-time tracking of user location and activity status; Monitoring of work progress and compliance with assigned routes.
2.2 Use in Pipeline Construction
This Application is deployed in the following pipeline construction environments: MDPE (Medium-Density Polyethylene) pipeline projects; Steel pipeline construction and maintenance operations.
3. Location Data Collection and Tracking
3.1 What Location Data We Collect
The Application collects precise geographic location data from your mobile device, specifically: User Latitude and Longitude coordinates; Continuous location updates during active route patrols; GPS accuracy and timestamp information; Device identifier associated with location records.
3.2 Background Location Service
The Application operates a background location service. To start an assigned route patrol, the line walker user must initiate the route through the Application interface and confirm that both Location Services and Internet connectivity are enabled on the device. Once a route has been started, the Application automatically activates a background service that continuously captures and transmits the user's latitude and longitude coordinates. This service remains active even if the Application user interface is closed or the device screen is locked, as long as the Application maintains a valid session. The background location service automatically terminates when the user explicitly selects the "Stop Route" option within the Application.
3.3 Mandatory Requirements
To enable the background location service, the following conditions are mandatory: (1) Location Services (GPS/GNSS) must be enabled on the user's mobile device. (2) An active internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) is required to transmit location data.
4. Information Collected
4.1 Personal Information
We may collect the following personal information when you use the Application: User name and employee/worker identification number; Contact information (email address, phone number); Project and assignment details; Authentication credentials for Application access.
4.2 Location and Activity Data
Continuous tracking involves collection of: Real-time GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude); Timestamps of location data points; Duration of route patrol activities; Route completion status and milestones; Deviation from assigned route paths.
4.3 Device and Technical Data
We automatically collect: Mobile device identifier (IMEI, Android ID, or equivalent); Operating system version and device model; Application version and usage logs; Network connectivity information.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes: Route Management and Assignment — Assigning, distributing, and managing inspection routes to line walker users; Real-time Monitoring — Tracking user location and activity status during active route patrols; Activity Logging — Recording and auditing work activities, route completion, and timeline documentation; Performance Monitoring — Assessing adherence to assigned routes and measuring work productivity; Safety and Compliance — Ensuring field personnel remain within designated work zones; Quality Assurance — Verifying that inspection routes are completed according to project specifications; Project Reporting — Generating project progress reports and work completion documentation.
6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
6.1 Internal Sharing
Location and activity data may be shared internally with: Project supervisors and site managers; Quality assurance and compliance teams; Administrative and HR personnel for employment and payroll purposes.
6.2 Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. However, we may share location and activity information with: Project clients and contractors as required for project management and reporting; Service providers and vendors who assist in application operation and maintenance; Legal authorities when required by law or in response to lawful requests.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information: Encryption of data in transit using HTTPS/TLS protocols; Secure authentication mechanisms for Application access; Access controls limiting data viewing to authorized personnel; Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments; Secure server infrastructure with firewalls and intrusion detection. While we take security seriously, no system is completely immune to breaches. Users should protect their device authentication credentials and avoid connecting to unsecured networks when using the Application.
8. Data Retention
Location tracking data is retained according to the following schedule: Active Route Data is retained throughout the active patrol period and for 90 days following route completion; Project Records are maintained for the duration of the project plus 2 years for audit and compliance purposes; Data may be retained longer if required by applicable law, legal process, or contractual obligations. Users may request deletion of their data by contacting our privacy administrator, subject to legal and contractual retention requirements.
9. Your Rights and Choices

9.2 Correction and Updates
If you believe your personal information is inaccurate, you may request correction through the privacy contact.
9.3 Termination of Background Tracking
You may terminate background location tracking at any time by selecting "Stop Route" in the Application. However, because location monitoring is essential to Application functionality and your work assignment, you cannot opt-out of location collection while an active route is in progress.
9.4 Device-Level Controls
You may modify device-level location permissions by adjusting your mobile operating system's privacy settings. However, this will prevent the Application from functioning properly and may prevent you from completing assigned routes.
10. Children's Privacy
The Line Patrolling Application is designed exclusively for use by adult workers in pipeline construction and maintenance. We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under the age of 18. If we become aware that personal information from a minor has been collected, we will take immediate steps to delete such information.
